Greenway/Hiawatha Bridge Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

It’s official.

The bridge is done. Rich and I rode over it the other day as workers were painting the directional arrows.

Tomorrow, Nov. 8th, at 4pm will mark the beginning of the ribbon cutting ceremony. There will be a brief presentation at 4:30, followed by the lighting of the bridge at 5pm.

Not very exciting, but a milestone worth attending at any rate.

The bridge is safe and fun to ride, but I worry about the other street crossing at 28th. The new bridge takes you on a farther route and there will be a significant amount of people who will skip the new bridge and go straight to the Hiawatha crossing, which you never have to wait terribly long. SO, was the new bridge a safety issue or something else? I never found out. I feel there will be major problems at the 28th street bridge since cars will be coming down a hill and, as we all know….hate to wait too. Road rage soon..
